The Number 17
So... yeah, umm...
#17
I dropped my phone as the first round of congratulations texts started coming in.
This picture was taken by @pocphotocompany at #devilsadvocatesburlesque show. This was my 4th to last in person show before the pandemic shut down in March 2020.
We didn't know how much things would change.
We didn't know.
This picture is filled with so much joy, hope, and optimism for the future.
Although the past two years have been scary and uncertain, with the last few weeks ramping back up to those early days of the pandemic... we're still here. A bit weathered. A little extra gray hair here and there. Definitely filled with more trauma and angst. But we're still here.
Burlesque is still here.
We're still creating.
We're still dancing
We're still dreaming.
We're still here.
Who knew how resilient we could be?
We knew. Even when it looks like we're down, we're not out are we? No.
#Ennui be damned.
#ImposterSyndrome be damned.
#Fatphobia be damned.
#Colorism and anti Blackness be damned.
Yt privilege and #classism be damned.
My name is @pucksaplenty and I'm a burlesque performer and producer based in Seattle. # 17 is for my community that keeps me nourished and inspired. #17 is for the Funk, the whole Funk. #17 is for my son. #17 is for a little chubby kid me, who always wanted entertain people and make them smile.
Thank you for seeing me, but honestly thank you supporting the artists that I book, that means the world to me.
