Backstage Boss

Lesson focus/goals: develop a cadre of stage managers, kittens, and door people to help with all aspects of a show.

Objectives: By the end of this session, you will understand the requirements to be a successful backstage boss; you will develop the skills to be successful in any role; you'll know what's expected of you from a producer or host. Materials needed: willingness to learn and notepad.

Course level: beginning to intermediate.

Description: Have you ever wondered what it takes to be successful as a stage manager, kitten, or door person? Have you ever marvelled at others as they take on those tasks? This workshop will cover the expectations of a producer/host for the roles of door/merch, panty boss/kitten, and stage manager. We'll walk through each role in a theater and give you the opportunity to practice as well as ask questions from a successful producer, stage manager, panty boss and door/merch person. You'll leave class with a strong skill set and information on how to approach producers to offer your help.
